INFORMATION ABOUT THE 22nd DOLOMITE CYLING TOUR 2009

Each participant receives his certificate
Owing to a modern time collection system, each participant will be sent a certificate with multiple intermediary time data and a personal performance chart with the list of results. There is also a collective certificate for clubs in which the times of the three fastest members as well as the overall time with the ranking of the club are listed.

Marathon Team Championships
On the occasion of the 21st Dolomite Cycling Tour, team championships will be staged for the first time. The team competition will be staged only upon the classic Dolomite course over 112 km. For a team, at least five participants must be nominated whereby the three best times will be recorded. The teams can register via a club or with its own team name. Teams will be registered only for participant if the entrance fee has been paid by no later than 31 May 2008. For teams and collective club registrations, there is an entrance fee discount of 10 % (minimum 5 persons). The Marathon Team Championships is a pilot project and will be expanded next year by two more well-known cycling marathons (Italy and Germany). Thus, the first Marathon Team Cup will be held in 2008.
The competition will be staged in the following categories:
● Women’s teams
● Men’s teams
● Mixed teams *
* Mixed teams must have at least one woman.

The respective five best teams will receive artistically designed Dolomite trophies! The team with the mid-time shall receive valuable non-cash prizes (coupon per team member for Fischer Alpine or cross-country skis)

Monitoring of traffic and safety are of primary importance
In principle, it must be stated that, for the Dolomite Cycling Tour as well as all other marathons, the road traffic rules and regulations shall apply and all participants must adhere to them. However, for the Dolomite Cycling Tour, the greatest importance has been placed upon safety and good on-site medical care for 21 years. Thus, the executive ensures that there is always a high degree of safety through the exemplary monitoring of the course – with some areas totally barricaded. Also, more than 200 fire department personnel will support the executive along the route and thus ensure that traffic will be controlled seamlessly. The perfect rescue system has proven itself to be effective. With several Red Cross vehicles, a rescue helicopter and emergency doctors along the course, good medical care can also be offered. On 8 June 2008, the first 20 kilometres to Oberdrauburg will likewise be cordoned off so that falls can largely be avoided!

Start as you wish
In order to present a closed participant field and to offer a higher degree of security, both courses will be started this year simultaneously at 9:30 a.m. The individual start will follow immediately thereafter (from 9:35 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.) By so doing, we wish to enable a stress-free start for those who have travelled from afar and offer an individual solution for those who wish to avoid the mass start.

Transponder time collection ensures exact results
With a modern transponder system, not only prompt results are supposed to be provided for the 21st Dolomite Cycling Tour, but rather also intermediate times are supposed to be taken. For the transponder, a security deposit of € 10 will be charged which will be reimbursed after the device has been returned in good condition. However, we would like to point out that each participant is obliged to return the transponder because the value of the transponder is far higher than the amount of the security deposit. The participants shall be liable for damage to the transponder and the event organiser shall be entitled to demand the payment of the costs for the transponder. The transponder will be passed out with the start number. A corresponding piece of paper explaining how to use the device will be enclosed.

Expanded provision of refreshments in a musical atmosphere
During the Dolomite Cycling Tour, the refreshments will again be provided in the Dolomite Tennis Centre as well as in the large courtyard. By so doing it is possible to keep the participants from waiting long periods of time to receive food and beverages. Furthermore, in the building, there are also WC facilities as well as booths in which one can change one’s clothes. The indoor swimming pool which all participants may use for free lies directly next to the Dolomite Tennis Centre. With abundant food, cool drinks or a Gösser beer from the keg, there are also some culinary offerings. A band will perform in order to create a good mood.

Bon appétit at the “Kaiserschmarren party”
As a special welcoming greeting for all participants, on Saturday at 6:30 p.m., there will again be a traditional Kaiserschmarren party in the Lienz Dolomite Tennis Centre – at the same time that starting numbers are issued. All participants are heartily invited to attend! This Tyrolean specialty, sugared, cut-up pancakes with raisins, enriched with delicious compote, is supposed to invigorate all participants for the tour of the Lienz Dolomites which shortly awaits them. The food is free of charge!
BON APPETIT!
