DOLOMITENLAUF - HIGHLIGHTS
A hearty welcome to the Lavant Romantic Race
An especially attractive start to the Dolomite Games is the newly revamped Romantic Race. At the 35th Dolomitenlauf the Romantic Race will once again be regarded as a welcoming event staged against the background of friendship without frontiers. The Lavant Sportunion have thought up quite a few things, so all Dolomitenlauf fans are well advised to arrive here in good time.
Traditional Opening with the Dolomite Sprint
The oldest sprint event in the world has been a unique spectacle for more than 25 years now. The new concept of the cross-town sprint transforms the Lienz main square into a cross-country arena. With a roundabout, a hill and an elevated starting ramp as well as difficult bends, technical ability is required as well as sprinting power. Over 5,000 spectators can enjoy live the excitement of cross-country. Not only will the best 30 sprinters in the world be competing for victory in Lienz but lots of prominent cyclists will also be testing their cross-country skills:

| Bambini Marathon as Euroloppet Junior Champion event The ‘new’ Bambini Marathon is taking place as the classic event in Obertilliach, right after the Dolomiten Classic Race. Children (born between 1998 and 2001) negotiate a 2km route. Youths (born between 1993 and 1997) have to prove themselves on a 4.5km route. The races count towards both the East Tirol Cross-Country Cup, and also towards the Euroloppet Junior Champion event. Register at LRC-Lienzer Dolomiten, or directly where the start numbers are being given out for the Dolomiten run (for East Tirol Cup with official ÖSV (Austrian Skiing federation) entry list). The entry fee is € 5.-. The motto at the Bambini Marathon is also ‘everyone is a winner in themselves’. The young athletes will get beautiful commemorative medals and there are trophies for the first three in each class.
Kaiserschmarren-Party
All competitors in the 35rd Dolomitenlauf can fortify themselves at the big Tchibo Kaiserschmarren Party at 6 p.m. on Saturday in the Dolomitenhalle. This is not just a way to boost your energy but also an opportunity to taste a regional delicacy. The Kaiserschmarren (sugared pancake with raisins) is free for all skiers taking part in the Dolomitenlauf. |
